Free Ride Benefits and Discounts

  • Free Pass for People with Disabilities (Interstate Routes): Individuals with physical, mental, intellectual, visual, auditory, or multiple disabilities, chronic kidney disease, or ostomy, who are in a low-income situation, are entitled to free travel on interstate trips in conventional bus, boat, or train services, through the Interstate Free Pass Program. To receive this benefit, proof of disability and a per capita family income of up to one minimum wage is required (via the Continuous Cash Benefit Program - BPC or CadÚnico), along with obtaining the Free Pass card and presenting it together with an identification document at the company's ticket counter to issue the ticket, respecting the availability of up to two free seats per vehicle.

  • Free Ride and Discounts for Seniors on Interstate Routes (ANTT): Seniors aged 60 and over, with an income equal to or less than two minimum wages, are entitled to up to two free seats per vehicle on interstate routes of conventional service. After these seats are filled, other eligible seniors are entitled to a minimum discount of 50% on the ticket price, paying fully only the boarding and toll fees, if applicable.

  • Seniors on Intermunicipal Routes in Minas Gerais (DER/MG): On intermunicipal routes in Minas Gerais, seniors aged 65 and over, with an income equal to or less than two minimum wages, are entitled to free travel in up to two seats per trip in conventional service, by presenting an official photo ID and proof of income. Generally, it is necessary to request the ticket in advance (for example, 12 hours) and confirm the reservation between 48 hours and 30 minutes before departure, according to DER/MG regulations and the company's operational rules.

  • ID Jovem - Youths Aged 15 to 29 (Interstate Routes): Young people aged 15 to 29, belonging to families with a monthly income of up to two minimum wages and registered in CadÚnico, are entitled to the ID Jovem benefit. In each interstate conventional service vehicle, two free seats and two seats with a minimum discount of 50% must be reserved for those who present a valid ID Jovem and an official photo ID, with boarding and toll fees still applicable even when the ticket is free or discounted.

  • General Rules for Using Benefits: All these benefits (for People with Disabilities, Seniors, and ID Jovem) apply only to conventional services (as a rule, they do not apply to executive, sleeper, or semi-sleeper categories). Granting is subject to the availability of the regulatory seats and, in general, to requesting the ticket in advance at the company's ticket counter, with the required documents; failure to show up until about 30 minutes before departure may lead to the cancellation of the reservation, especially in the case of seniors on interstate routes, according to ANTT regulations.

Accessibility and Assistance for Persons with Disabilities

The company must ensure accessibility conditions, including the transportation of wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, and guide dogs at no additional charge, in compliance with accessibility standards and ANTT regulations. Whenever technically possible, the vehicle should be equipped with a transfer chair or an equivalent device to facilitate the movement of persons with disabilities or reduced mobility between the door and the seat designated for them, following ABNT NBR 15320 standards.

In intercity services, it is a recommended practice aligned with legislation to reserve front seats (such as seats 01 and 02) for persons with disabilities, the elderly, and individuals with reduced mobility, allowing their sale to other passengers only close to the time of travel if no priority request is made. The company should train its staff to provide appropriate assistance, offering help during boarding, disembarking, and seating, ensuring safety, dignity, and priority for this audience.

Travel for Children and Adolescents

No child or adolescent under 16 years old may travel outside their home district unaccompanied by parents or guardians without judicial authorization, according to the Child and Adolescent Statute as amended by Law 13.812/2019 and regulations by the CNJ and ANTT. Exceptions exist when the travel occurs between adjacent districts within the same state or metropolitan area, but in case of doubt, it is recommended that guardians consult the juvenile court or local Court of Justice before traveling.

When a child or adolescent under 16 years old travels accompanied by one of the parents or a legal guardian, within national territory, judicial authorization is not required. It is sufficient to present the identification documents of the minor and the accompanying person, along with the travel ticket. If accompanied by third parties over the age of 18 (up to the 3rd degree relative or an authorized person), written authorization with notarized signature or judicial authorization may be necessary, according to local Judiciary rules; the company may require these documents at boarding.

Adolescents who are 16 years old may travel unaccompanied within national territory, provided they carry an official identification document with a photo, without the need for parental or guardian authorization. For international travel, specific rules by the Federal Police and the Child and Adolescent Statute apply, which typically require notarized authorization when the minor is not accompanied by both parents. It is the responsibility of the guardians to arrange the documents in advance.

Interstate Travel Passenger Rights (ANTT)

For interstate travel regulated by ANTT, passengers are entitled to be transported with safety, hygiene, and comfort, and within scheduled times, in a vehicle appropriate for the contracted service. If the company uses a vehicle of a lower category than contracted, passengers have the right to receive the fare difference.

Regarding luggage, free transport of up to 30 kg in the luggage compartment (usually in up to two pieces) and up to 5 kg in the hand luggage compartment is guaranteed, respecting the volume and safety limits of the journey. Checked luggage must be identified with a receipt provided to the passenger, who is entitled to compensation in case of loss or damage, as per ANTT regulations.

If there is a delay of more than 1 hour at the initial departure point, the passenger can choose to board an equivalent service from another company at the carrier's expense, receive an immediate refund, or wait for the problem to be resolved within a maximum period of 3 hours. If the journey is interrupted or delayed for more than 3 hours due to the carrier's fault or responsibility, the passenger is entitled to meals and, if necessary, accommodation, as well as the option to refund the ticket price if they decide not to continue the journey.

The interstate ticket is valid for up to 1 year from the date of issuance, allowing for rescheduling within this period; rescheduling is free if requested before boarding setup (typically up to 3 hours before departure), with a possible penalty of up to 20% after this limit, according to the company’s conditions and ANTT Resolution 4.282/2014. Before boarding is configured, the passenger may cancel the journey and request a refund of the amount paid, with a possible retention of up to 5% as a penalty, and after this point, the right to rescheduling and/or ticket transfer within the validity remains.

Every passenger is automatically covered by the compulsory civil liability insurance contracted by the carrier, and cannot be required to purchase optional travel insurance. Duties include carrying an identification document, arriving for boarding in advance, using seat belts when available, not smoking inside the vehicle, and respecting the crew's instructions, ensuring safety and good conduct on board.

Intermunicipal Travel in São Paulo, Baggage, and Ticket Revalidation

In intermunicipal road passenger transport within the State of São Paulo, regulated by State Decree 29,913/1989 and rules from ARTESP/DER, passengers have the right to be transported under conditions of safety, hygiene, and comfort, to have their seat guaranteed according to the ticket, and to receive courteous service from the transport company's staff, as well as at stops and during inspections. Passengers also have the right to assistance from the company in case of accidents, interruptions, or delays attributable to the carrier, including meals, lodging, and if there is a replacement with a lower-category vehicle, reimbursement of the fare difference.

The baggage allowance for intermunicipal transport in SP, aligned with ARTESP practices, includes free transport of checked baggage in the luggage compartment and carry-on items, typically up to 2 pieces totaling 30 kg in the luggage compartment and up to 5 kg in the carry-on, respecting size and safety limits. Baggage is considered as the collection of personal or family use items packed in suitcases, boxes, or packages, and the transportation of dangerous goods or items compromising the safety of the vehicle, passengers, or third parties is prohibited. In case of excess weight or volume beyond the allowance, an additional fee may be charged per kilo or excess volume, limited to a percentage of the regular service fare.

For intermunicipal tickets in the State of São Paulo, legislation allows passengers to revalidate (reschedule) the ticket at no cost when the notification is made at least 8 hours in advance of the commencement of the trip. In case of cancellation with at least 8 hours' notice, a refund can be requested, with a retention of up to 5% of the fare, according to Decree 29,913/1989 and the Civil Code. For any trip, it is recommended that passengers have identification documents on hand at boarding, including for the verification of benefits (elderly, Free Pass, Youth ID) and to ensure proper identification in cases of inspection and safety.
